Module 1 Sourcing and Establishing the Business and Sophisticated Client Relationship There are over 3 million Businesses in Australia yet their Business Financial Planning needs and objectives continue to be unmet. In particular, Business Owners have not only different needs and objectives but are time poor and thus rely on advice from other others to make decisions. Hence, the need not only to correctly source potential Business Clients and to effectively engage with Business Clients but to work with their professional advisers is essential in this huge but untapped market. Outline of the Programme This full day programme will enable a participant to: 1. Develop skills and knowledge regarding the process for sourcing, engaging and delivering financial services to Business and Sophisticated Clients 2. Understand the characteristics of the Business and Sophisticated Client 3. Understand and discharge their professional disclosure obligations to the Business and Sophisticated Client 4. Effectively engage a Business Client and their advisers 5. Deliver Services to the Business Client or in tandem with other service providers 6. Develop the knowledge and skills to meet all legislative, regulatory, ATO and ASIC requirements Programme Content

Additional information To provide Financial Planning advice advisers must also complete an approved Tier 1 course in Financial Planning to meet RG 146 requirements. Assessment Should a certified pathway to an Advanced Diploma in Financial Services be required participants will be evaluated through two major assessments set out below and will need to contact Australian College, a registered training organisation (RTO). Each assessment is worth 50% of the total course mark. Examination If a certified pathway is required, an open-book examination, covering all course content contributes 50% to the total course mark will be administered by the RTO. Designed to assess knowledge as well as analysis and process skills, this exam consists of a series of multiple choice and short answer questions in relation to actual case studies sourced from practitioner past experience and modified in line with privacy principles. Assignment If a certified pathway is required, one or more hypothetical case studies will be provided by the RTO about which you will be asked to address questions related to a Business Client, their family and their business particular circumstances contribute 50% to the total course mark. Delivery Facilitated Learning through Peer Group Learning with comprehensive, self paced learning materials including examples case studies, template checklists to achieve the required assessment tasks. Assumed Knowledge Participants should have a sound understanding of Financial Planning and have already achieved ASIC RG146 compliance to provide Financial Planning advice. It is desirable that participants have relevant work experience which relate to Business and Sophisticated Clients. CPD Points This course may contribute to your continuing professional development obligations under RG146. ili assigns ten (10) CPD points to the course and provides a CPD statement to advisers who achieve competency in the assessment tasks.
